Recruitment Process Overview

TCS conducts a 4-round process to recruit freshers as Assistant System Engineers:

  1. Written Round
  2. Technical Round
  3. Managerial Round
  4. HR Round

1. Written Round

This round consists of four sections with a total duration of 90 minutes:

  1. Quantitative Aptitude Test:

    • 20 questions in 40 minutes.
    • Topics: Number systems, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Time and Work, Permutations and Combinations, Probability, and Coding puzzles.
    • Includes star-marked questions (higher weightage, negative marking of 1/3rd).
  2. Programming Language Test:

    • 10–12 questions in 20 minutes.
    • Covers basic programming and computer science concepts.
  3. Coding Round:

    • 1–2 technical coding questions to be solved in 20 minutes.
  4. E-mail Writing:

    • Write an email using given keywords in 10 minutes.

Note:

  • Students with 8.5+ CGPA only appear for the verbal section.
  • High performers in CodeVita skip the written round.

2. Technical Round

This involves an in-depth technical interview focusing on:

  • Core subjects: Data Structures, Algorithms, DBMS, Operating Systems, Networking, OOP concepts.
  • Coding: Be ready to write and explain code.
  • For non-CS branches: Prepare two core subjects from your domain.
  • Possible puzzles and scenario-based questions.

3. Managerial Round

  • Combines elements of the technical round with stress-testing.
  • Tests your ability to handle pressure and doubts.
  • Stay calm, confident, and attempt answers logically.

4. HR Round

The final round covers:

  • Personality, family background, hobbies, and internships.
  • General HR questions: “Why should we hire you?”, “Are you okay with relocation?”.
  • Be confident and authentic in your answers.
